Acqualagna is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4292 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Pesaro and Urbino in Marche . The municipality is located about 38 kilometers south-southwest of Pesaro and about 12 kilometers south-southeast of Urbino on the Candigliano and is part of the Comunità montana del Catria e Nerone . In the northwest, the Metauro delimits the community.
history
When the Roman city of Pitinum Mergens was destroyed by Alaric around 400, the displaced residents of Castel di Montefalcone founded the village of Acqualagna.

Acqualagna is the center for the truffle trade. The most important types of commercially viable truffles thrive in the neighboring forests. Including the most expensive and best-known type of white truffle . There are also a number of farms where Perigord truffles and summer truffles grow. Most families have one or more members who take dogs to search for the tubers in the appropriate seasons .
