Sant'Angelo in Vado (in the local dialect: Sant'Angële ) is an Italian commune ( comune ) in the province of Pesaro and Urbino in Marche . Sant'Angelo in Vado is part of the Comunità Montana Alto e Medio Metauro .

The municipality is located about 19 kilometers west-southwest of Urbino and about 50 kilometers southwest of Pesaro on the Metauro . The municipality borders on the exclave of the Città di Castello ( province of Perugia ).

history

Sant'Angelo in Vado is built on the remains of a Roman settlement. With the Domus del Mito site, important archaeological explorations are still taking place in the municipality.

The parish was the seat of a bishopric from 1635 ( aeque pricipaliter with Urbania), but since the union with the diocese of Urbino in 1986 to form the archbishopric of Urbino-Urbania-Sant'Angelo in Vado , the place has lost its importance.
