Adolf Ludwig Albrecht Friedrich Prince of Bentheim-Tecklenburg-Rheda , (* May 7, 1804 in Rheda , † September 3, 1874 in Rudolstadt ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Adolf came from the aristocratic house of Bentheim-Tecklenburg . His parents were the ruling Prince Emil Friedrich I. zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg (1765-1837) and Countess Luise zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein (1768-1828).

The princes and princes Moritz Kasimir zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg (1795–1872) and Franz zu Bentheim-Tecklenburg (1800–1885) were his older brothers.

Career

Bentheim-Tecklenburg had been in the service of Hanover since 1822 . In 1824 he was reciprocated in the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg . In 1827 he received his departure as captain . At the beginning of 1833 he joined the Prussian army as a prime lieutenant and was aggregated to the 4th Cuirassier Regiment . His promotion to captain while aggregation in the 5th Lancers took place in 1835. After five more years, he became the 11th Hussars aggregated and received in 1842 the character as a Major . In 1845 he changed to the army officers à la suite, wearing his previous uniform . In 1847 he received the character of lieutenant colonel .

In 1852 he was honored with the Grand Cross of the Saxon Order of the Falcons . This was followed in 1853 by the character of colonel , in 1858 that of major general and finally in 1861 that of lieutenant general. Bentheim-Tecklenburg was a knight of the Order of St. John and received the Grand Cross of the Dannebrogden in 1867 .

family

In 1843 he married Anna Karoline Luise Adelheid Reuss-Schleiz-Gera (1822–1902), daughter of Prince Heinrich LXVII. Reuss and Princess Adelheid Reuss zu Ebersdorf (1800–1880). The marriage resulted in seven children.
