Adrian Quaife-Hobbs
Adrian Quaife-Hobbs (born February 3, 1991 in Pembury , Kent ) is a British racing driver . He won the Auto GP World Series in 2012 . In 2013 and 2014 he started in the GP2 series .
Career
Quaife-Hobbs began his motorsport career in karting in 2002 , in which he was active until 2004. In 2005 he switched to the T-Cars series , in which racing drivers aged 14 to 17 drove in limousines , and won the championship titles in the regular series and the autumn championship. In 2006 he stayed with the T Cars for half a season and this year finished ninth overall. 2007 changed Quaife-Hobbs in Formula racing and focused on his involvement in the British Formula BMW, which he finished in tenth place overall. He also competed in some races in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and in the northern European Formula Renault .
In 2008 Quaife-Hobbs switched to the Italian Formula Renault and ended the season with a victory in fourth place in the drivers' standings. He also competed in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and finished 25th overall in this series. In 2009 Quaife-Hobbs switched to Motopark Academy and competed in two tracks in the Northern European Formula Renault and the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. In both series, he won a race and finished fourth overall.
In 2010 Quaife-Hobbs stayed at Motopark Academy and started in the Formula 3 Euro Series . He left the Formula 3 Euro Series after the second race weekend and finished 13th overall at the end of the season. Quaife-Hobbs decided to switch to the GP3 series , in which he started for Manor Racing in 2010 . He achieved a third place as the best result and took 15th place in the overall ranking. In 2011 Quaife-Hobbs stayed with Manor Racing in the GP3 series. He won his first GP3 race and finished the season as the best driver of his team in fifth place in the drivers' standings. As he was the best Manor driver, he was rewarded with Formula 1 test drives with the Manor-affiliated racing team Virgin , for which he had already carried out aerodynamic tests.
In 2012 Quaife-Hobbs moved to SuperNova International in the Auto GP World Series . After the 10th of 14 races, he was only off the podium in one race, which he finished fourth, and he had achieved four of five pole positions . He won a race each in Monza , Valencia and Mogyoród . At the race weekend in Portimão , he achieved pole position in qualifying, won both races and set the fastest lap in both races. With this he achieved the maximum number of points that could be achieved in one weekend. Quaife-Hobbs was already the winner of the drivers' championship before the end of the season. With 221 to 183 points, he prevailed against Pål Varhaug . In addition, Quaife-Hobbs won the U21 drivers' championship.
In 2013 Quaife-Hobbs received a cockpit in the GP2 series at MP Motorsport , a racing team that had just entered the series. In the sprint race in Monte Carlo , he achieved his first podium finish with a second place. After the sixth event, he switched to Hilmer Motorsport within the series , which at the time of the change was clearly ahead of MP Motorsport. At the second race weekend for the new team, Quaife-Hobbs finished third in the sprint race on the podium. At the next event in Monza , he won the sprint race and scored his first GP2 victory. With three podium finishes, Quaife-Hobbs finished the season in 13th place overall. In 2014 Quaife-Hobbs received a cockpit at Rapax in the GP2 series . At the main race in Mogyoród , he achieved a podium finish with second place. At the last two events he paused due to a neck injury. In the overall ranking he was again 13th.
