Ilestedt started playing football in her place of birth at the resident Sölvesborgs GIF and was promoted to its first team in 2006. After only one season, she signed in 2007 Karlskrona FF , for which she also only completed one season.

In 2009 she moved to LdB FC Malmö , for whose B team she initially played. In 2010 she played ten point games for the professional team and thus had a share in winning the championship - her first. One season later, in August 2011, she left LdB FC Malmö and moved on loan to second division Vittsjö GIK , for whom she played her only league game on August 6 - against Eskilstuna United . In the 2014 season she reached the quarter-finals of the 2014/15 UEFA Women's Champions League with the team now known as FC Rosengård , where she met defending champions VfL Wolfsburg . After the 1-1 draw in Wolfsburg and the 3-3 draw in the second leg, she and her team were eliminated from the competition due to the away goals rule . Ilestedt had played over ninety minutes in all six games. On June 2, 2017, she asked to terminate her eight-year contract with FC Rosengård and on the same day switched to Bundesliga club 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam , with whom she signed a contract that was valid until June 30, 2019. For the 2019/20 season she was signed by FC Bayern Munich , where she signed a contract valid until June 30, 2021. She made her competitive debut for FC Bayern Munich on August 17, 2019 (first matchday) in a 3-1 win in the away game against SC Freiburg , against which she also won a 2-0 win on 6 December 2019 (twelfth matchday) her first Bundesliga goal in the home game - the goal for the final score in the 81st minute.

From 2009 she took part with the U-17 national team in qualifying for the European Championship 2010 , but failed with her in the second round of Ireland's U-17 selection. She was used in all four games, but retired with her team in the round of 16 against the national team of Germany from the tournament. In 2018 she played four internationals , two of them in the tournament for the Algarve Cup , but no qualifying game for the 2019 World Cup. In the first six games of 2019, however, she was always used.

On May 16, she was also nominated for the World Cup . At the World Cup she was used in three out of seven games.
