The 1st Amateur League Rhineland 1952/53 was the first season of the highest amateur class of the Rhineland Football Association under the designation 1st Amateur League . It replaced the multi-track Landesliga Rheinland as the highest amateur class and was a predecessor of today's Rhineland League .

The 1st amateur league represented the substructure of the 2nd league southwest until 1963 and was thus third-class in the overall league hierarchy. In the seasons 1956/57 to 1962/63 , the league played in two seasons (East and West). The Rhineland champion was determined between the two relay winners. With the introduction of the Regionalliga Südwest  as the second highest division from the 1963/64 season, the Rhineland amateur league was again combined in one season. From the 1974/75 season , the league acted as a substructure for the newly introduced  2nd Bundesliga , with the Rhineland champions  ascertaining a promotion to the southern season of the 2nd Bundesliga against the champions of  the Südwest association  and Saar association in a promotion round. From the 1978/79 season, the Oberliga Südwest was (re) introduced as the highest amateur division and this division was renamed “Verbandsliga Rheinland” and has only been fourth class since then.

Closing table

Rhineland champion was the SpVgg Bendorf . In the promotion round to the 2nd Southwest League , Bensdorf took last place and had to remain in the league. The FC Urbar took as Rhineland-representatives at the German Football Amateur Championship in 1953 in part, but did not have the group stage.

The SV Remagen , the TuS Mayen , the SV Trier West and the SG Betzdorf had to dismount after this season in the second amateur league. For the following season 1953/54 came Grün-Weiß Vallendar , SV Wittlich , TuS Montabaur and VfL Brohl as promoters from the 2nd amateur leagues

Germania Mudersbach moved to the Landesliga Westfalen after this season .
