The  soccer amateur league Rhineland 1955/56  was the 4th season of the 1st amateur league , the predecessor of the  Verbandsliga Rheinland , also called the Rhineland League. This league represented the substructure of the II. Southwest Division until 1963 and was thus third-class in the overall league hierarchy.

Rhineland champion was the SV Niederlahnstein , who rose by a second place in the promotion round to the II. Division Southwest . As a Rhineland representative, Niederlahnstein also took part in the German amateur soccer championship in 1956 and failed there in the qualifying game against the Berlin representative BFC Südring with 1: 2. The sports fans Daaden and green and white Vallendar had to dismount after this season in the second amateur league. For the following season 1956/57 , which was played with two seasons, there were promoted players from the 2nd amateur leagues:  FC Bitburg , Fortuna Kottenheim , Fortuna Saarburg , Germania Metternich , SC Moselweiß , SC Eitelborn , SG 06 Betzdorf , Sportfreunde Herdorf , SV Trier -West , TuS Diez , TuS Mayen .
