The  soccer amateur league Rhineland 1973/74  was the 22nd season of the 1st amateur league , the predecessor of the  Verbandsliga Rheinland , also called the Rhineland League. This league represented the substructure of the Regionalliga Südwest until 1974 and was thus third-class in the overall league hierarchy.

Closing table

The Rhineland champion was SV Leiwen . Due to the introduction of the two-part  2nd Bundesliga  , there were no promoters from the amateur league this season. SV Leiwen took part in the 1974 German amateur football championship as a Rhineland representative and failed in the first round at ASV Herzogenaurach  (Bavaria).

SV Speicher , VfB Lützel , Alemannia Plaidt and FV Engers 07 had to relegate to the 2nd amateur league . For the following season 1974/75 came as climbers from the 2nd amateur league of Ahrweiler BC , TuS Bad Marienberg and FC Bitburg , as well as relegated from the regional league of TuS Neuendorf and the Eisbachtaler Sportfreunde .
