André Nendza (born November 1, 1968 in Hemer ) is a German jazz musician . He plays double bass , blekete , bass-slit-drum and electric bass .

Live and act

After a preparatory year at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in Amsterdam , Nendza graduated from the jazz department of the Cologne University of Music (Diploma 1997).

As a jazz musician, he works both with his own projects and as a sideman . In 1998 the André Nendza Septett released Songs from a Red Notebook , which was inspired by Paul Auster's literature. Between 2000 and 2007 Nendza released CD productions on his Crecycle label . music . Since 2007 he has been co-initiator of the Jazzsick Records label. CDs of the André Nendza Quartet ( The invention of rooms , Wild open rooms , Rooms restored), his duo with Angelika Niescier ( wood line play ), his electro-acoustic project A.tronic ( Lichtblau , Spectacles), the collective Tria Lingvo (also as Lemke -Nendza- Hillmann , El Arte , Kyrillis with Dominique Pifarély ), Tria Lingvo , amplified by Zoltán Lantos and Marc Bassey ( at Its Purest ), the band Matucana or Andreas Wildenhain appear. In 2007 the duo Niescier & Nendza expanded their stylistic spectrum by collaborating with the classical string quartet kaj: kaj (CD The Poetry of Rhythm ). This project was nominated for the final of the New German Jazz Prize in 2009. In addition, the André Nendza Quartet went on tour in 2007 with trumpeter Paolo Fresu as a guest. In 2015, with the release of A.tronic's third CD ( tangible ), a stylistic change in the project towards pop took place. In 2016 Inga Lühning and André Nendza founded a duo. The CD Hodgepodge Vol.1 was released here in 2018 . In 2018/19 Tria Lingvo went on tour through Germany and England together with the English guitarist Mike Walker .

Nendza worked with musicians such as Dave Liebman , Kenny Wheeler , Charlie Mariano , Rob van den Broeck , Alex Acuña , Stefan Bauer , Philipp van Endert , Philip Catherine , Torsten de Winkel , Gabriele Hasler , Céline Rudolph , Anne Hartkamp , Dave Pike , Olaf Kübler , Thomas Heberer , Ramesh Shotham , Michael Küttner , Tom van der Geld , Rick Margitza and Esther Berlansky .

As head of the jazz preparatory course at the Open Jazz House School, Cologne , Nendza also works as a teacher. He also taught as a guest lecturer a. a. at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt am Main , the Musikhochschule Dresden and the Summer Jazz School in Edinburgh. In addition, Nendza is a permanent member of the teaching team at the jazzemble workshop at the Remscheid Academy .

Between 2007 and 2011, Nendza also worked as an author for the blog for Jazzthing magazine.

Awards

In 1997 Nendza received the cultural award of the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Rheinland (sponsorship award). In 2012 he was named "Bassist of the Year, national" with the ECHO Jazz for the album Rooms Restored . In 2014 the Tria Lingvo received the New German Jazz Prize.
