Andrea Crosariol ( November 11, 1984 in Milan ) is an Italian basketball player . After studying in the United States , Crosariol played from 2006 as a professional primarily in the top Italian league, Lega Basket Serie A , in which he became Italian champion in 2006 with Benetton Treviso at the beginning of his career. Only in the 2013-14 Basketball Bundesliga was EM -Endrundenteilnehmer of 2007 briefly when German active first division EWE Baskets Oldenburg.

Career

After Crosariol had played for youth teams in Padua and Treviso , he went to the United States in 2001, initially to create the prerequisites for studying in the USA at so-called prep schools . In 2003 he was finally accepted at the Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack (New Jersey) , for whose university team Knights Crosariol played in the Northeast Conference (NEC) of the NCAA . After winning the NEC championship tournament in 2005, the Knights made it to the national NCAA finals for the fourth time in their history . Placed in last place in their regional group, the Knights were tied in their opening game against the later highly favored finalist Fighting IIlini of the UIUC until half-time before they lost the game by twelve points in the end. A year later, the Hawks of Monmouth University took back the NEC championship title and the Knights missed out on participation in the NCAA finals. Nevertheless, you were invited to the National Invitation Tournament , in which the Knights, however, also eliminated in the first round against the Jaspers of Manhattan College . Then Crosariol returned directly to Italy, where he was added to the squad of the former cup winner Benetton from Treviso in March 2006. The team could not defend their title in the national cup competition in 2006, but in the play-offs for the Italian championship one could defeat defending champion Fortitudo Climamio Bologna in the final series and win the fifth championship for the club.

While Crosariol's Italian compatriot and teammate at Treviso Andrea Bargnani was the first European ever to be the "first pick" in the 2006 NBA draft , Crosariol was not included in the entry draft and was loaned by Benetton to Virtus VidiVici from Bologna for the following season . In the cup competition you reached the final against Crosariol's former team Benetton, which was lost by two points, while you reached the final series for the Italian championship in the Lega Basket Serie A in the play-offs. However, this was lost to Montepaschi Siena , who won their first of seven championships in a row. In the summer of 2007, Crosariol took part with the Italian men's national team at the 2007 European Championship finals in Spain, where Italy only managed to win over Turkey in the second round after a single win over Poland in the second round . After the defeat in the final and decisive intermediate round game against Germany , Crosariol was eliminated from the tournament with Italy. Although Crosariol had more appearances in the national team up to and including 2010, this was his only calling in an Italian final squad.

In the ULEB Euroleague 2007/08 , Crosariol was represented with runner-up Bologna for the first time in the highest-ranking European club competition, but when Virtus returned to this competition, they disappointed with only two wins in 14 preliminary round games. After losing the national cup final again this time to the southern Italians from Avellino , Crosariol moved in February 2008 to league rivals Virtus Lottomatica in the capital Rome , who had reached the round of the 16 best teams in the Euroleague, but then failed there. With the Romans, Crosariol won all three games of the play-off semi-final series against Avellino, but in the final series Crosariol had to admit defeat to Siena again this time with Virtus Rom. For the 2008/09 season, Crosariol himself moved to Campania , where he played for the cup winner A.IR Avellino. For the newcomer to the Euroleague it was enough to win three games in ten preliminary rounds, but not to advance to the second round. After a disappointing season in Serie A, they missed participating in the play-offs again on the eleventh main round place.

In the following three seasons, Crosariol played again for Lottomatica in Rome from 2009, but after being eliminated in the first round of the play-offs in 2010, they missed out on the finals for the championship title twice. After it Crosariol with Lottomatica in the ULEB Euro League 2009/10 only just because of the poorer direct comparison was not enough to move into the second round, it was in the ULEB Euro League 2010/11 partly thanks to two victories over the German champions Brose Baskets after all reach the intermediate round of the 16 best teams, in which they were eliminated in six games despite two wins. In the 2012/13 season Crosariol reached with his new team Scavolini from Pesaro only the penultimate place in the table, which, however, reached in a reduced league to relegate. In the following season he was signed by the German first division club EWE Baskets from Oldenburg as a replacement for the injured Adam Chubb before the start of the season . After the German runner-up failed to qualify for the ULEB Euroleague 2013/14 , they did not survive the preliminary round in the 2013/14 Eurocup because of the poorer direct comparison . After Crosariol's fixed-term contract in Oldenburg had been renewed again and again, he left the club in January 2014 after 18 championship appearances to return to Serie A, where he was signed by Reyer Umana from Mestre near Venice. With the Northern Italians, however, he missed entry into the Italian championship play-offs in eleventh place in the table.
