Andrew Jacob Kozek (born May 26, 1986 in Revelstoke , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with EHC Linz in the Austrian ice hockey league since August 2020 .

Career

Andrew Kozek began his career as a hockey player with the Surrey Eagles, for which he was active from 2003 to 2005 in the British Columbia Hockey League . In the 2004/05 season he was the league's top scorer with 48 goals. The winger was then selected in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as a total of 53 players by the Atlanta Thrashers . First, however, he attended the University of North Dakota for four years and played in parallel for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . With his university team he won the 2006 championship of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association .

Towards the end of the 2008/09 season Kozek finally made his professional hockey debut for Atlanta's farm team , the Chicago Wolves from the American Hockey League , for which he played regularly in the following years. In March 2011 he was loaned to the Hershey Bears , for which the Chicago Wolves received defender Josh Godfrey in exchange . For the 2011/12 season, the Canadian signed a contract with the Nikkō Ice Bucks from the Asia League Ice Hockey . In August 2012 Kozek was signed by EC Dornbirn from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League and became the league's top scorer before moving to EHC Linz the next season . In 2013/14 he scored 26 goals and 12 assists for Upper Austria, in 2014/15 he scored 32 goals and 23 assists. In 2015/16 he was also the top scorer in the league.

For the 2016/17 season he moved to the neighboring country, he signed in April 2016 with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
