Daniel "Dan" DaSilva (born April 30, 1985 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been playing for EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League since 2015 .
Career
DaSilva played three seasons with the Portland Winter Hawks in the Western Hockey League during his junior years between 2002 and 2005 . In each of the three years, the striker was able to increase his points. After he had scored 22 points scorer in his rookie year , he increased to 56 points in his second year and finished the third and final season in the junior league with 73 points. Although DaSilva reached the playoffs with the team in each of the three years, the team was always eliminated in the first round.
In the summer of 2005, the Canadian moved undrafted to the professional camp when he signed a contract with the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League , who at the time were the farm team of the Carolina Hurricanes and Colorado Avalanche from the National Hockey League . DaSilva came at the beginning of the 2005/06 season to a total of 25 missions with the Lock Monsters, in which he scored five points. Furthermore, at the end of November he played four games for the San Diego Gulls from the ECHL , which were also in cooperation with the Colorado Avalanche. After an injury at the end of 2005, the right winger was out until the end of the season and was not used in either the AHL or the ECHL. In the following season DaSilva ran for the Albany River Rats from the American Hockey League after both Carolina and Colorado had ended their cooperation with the Lock Monsters and found a new cooperation partner in the River Rats. Compared to the previous year, the Canadian was able to significantly increase his yield with 19 points from 43 matches, but at the end of the 2006 calendar year he was repeatedly used at Arizona Sundogs from the Central Hockey League . Only towards the end of the 2006/07 game year did the winger gain a regular place in the AHL roster of the Albany franchise . Since Colorado found a new AHL farm team again in the Lake Erie Monsters for the 2007/08 season , DaSilva played there the entire season and fulfilled the last year of his contract. Again he was able to increase his offensive yield and was not transferred to the ECHL or CHL for the first time.
Despite DaSilva's steady growth over the past three seasons, he did not find a new team before the 2008/09 season . It was only in mid-October 2008 that the Worcester Sharks from the AHL showed interest and offered him a contract. After a few AHL appearances at the beginning of the season, the striker found himself with the Phoenix RoadRunners from ECHL, a cooperation partner of the Sharks. DaSilva stayed there until mid-February 2009 and was able to score 21 points in 36 matches. Due to many secondings to the San Jose Sharks from the NHL, the Worcester Sharks were forced to order the striker in the AHL squad. He was able to contribute twelve points to the successful qualification for the playoffs in the remaining 21 games of the regular season, with 13 points from 26 games at the end of the season. His achievements finally brought him a regular place in the squad for the playoffs, although various regulars had returned from San Jose in the meantime.
For the 2011/12 season, the Canadian moved to HC Lev Poprad in the Continental Hockey League . After 15 games in the KHL, he dissolved his contract with the Slovaks in November 2011 due to outstanding salary payments. He subsequently received a four-day trial contract with EHC Biel in the Swiss National League A . Biel took the option of tying him for a longer period of time, but did not take up. Then the HC La Chaux-de-Fonds secured the services of the Canadian from the second-rate Swiss National League B. In January 2012 he was signed by league competitor EHC Olten , with whom the Canadian signed a working paper until the end of the 2011/12 season. For the 2012/13 season he was obliged by the Ontario Reign from the ECHL.
