history

Return to the European stage (2015-2018)

After three years of abstinence, Aris played again internationally under new club management from the 2015/16 season . Although the club under new coach Dimitris Priftis did not manage to qualify beyond the intermediate round in the Eurocup , they did at least reach the semi-finals of the playoffs in the domestic league, in which the Macedonian representative lost 2: 3 games to later runner-up Panathinaikos . Even in the game for third place, the club then had to neglect the AEK Athens . Okaro White was voted the most spectacular player of the season from within its own ranks . However, who subsequently left the club to play in the NBA .

In the 2016/17 season , Aris was one of the first participants in the Basketball Champions League newly installed by FIBA . The club was able to strengthen itself with the players Vasilis Kavvadas and Tadija Dragićević . During the season the squad was u. a. completed by Vladimiros Giankovits on loan from the Valencia Basket Club . In the domestic cup competition Aris reached the final. There it came to the new edition of the final of 2014 when Aris was clearly inferior to the Panathinaikos with 53:90 points and this time the Athens club could not be defeated and Aris was defeated with 59:68 points.

A little surprisingly, Dimitris Priftis left the club in the summer of 2017 in order to be able to switch to Kuban in VTB as the main person in charge . While he was replaced in Thessaloniki by the club's internal legend Panagiotis Giannakis.
