Career
During the NHL Entry Draft 1996 , Arron Asham was selected as the 71st player of the Canadiens de Montréal . At that time he was a Red Deer Rebels player in the Western Hockey League , for which he was active for a total of four years from 1994 to 1998.
Towards the end of the 1997/98 season, Asham made his professional ice hockey debut for the then Montréals farm team , the Fredericton Canadiens from the American Hockey League . In the following season he also made his debut in the National Hockey League for Montréal and came in his premier season to seven missions. From 1999 to 2000, Asham was regularly used for the Canadiens and their new farm team, the Citadelles de Québec . On June 22, 2002 he was delivered to the New York Islanders along with a five-round vote for the 2002 NHL Entry Draft against Mariusz Czerkawski . There the winger developed into a regular NHL player for the first time with 78 and 79 appearances out of a possible 82 in the regular season. Asham bridged the lockout of the 2004/05 NHL season in Switzerland at EHC Visp from the National League B , for which he was able to score six points in five games, including two goals. After resuming play in the NHL, Asham returned to the Islanders.
On August 7, 2007 Asham received a contract with the New Jersey Devils , which he left after only one season. As of July 7, 2008, Asham was in the roster of the Philadelphia Flyers . After he reached the final games for the Stanley Cup with the Flyers in the 2009/10 NHL season and was defeated in six games by the Chicago Blackhawks , Asham signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins in August 2010 .
In July 2012 he was signed as a free agent by the New York Rangers . After he was on the ice in 27 games for the Rangers in the 2012/13 season, he was given to the AHL farm team Hartford Wolf Pack as part of the preparation for the next season . There he finally ended his active career in the summer of 2014.
