Austin Film Critics Association

The Austin Film Critics Association (abbr .: AFCA ) is an organization of film critics from the US Austin , in the state of Texas . It has presented an annual film prize, the Austin Film Critics Association Award , since 2005 . A special award is given to films that were either shot in Austin or by a director who is from Austin or the surrounding area.

history

The Austin Film Critics Association was founded in 2005 by film critics Cole Dabney and Robert "Bobby" McCurdy. Today (as of 2013) it has 25 members. The group named the Breakthrough Artist Award after Bobby McCurdy, who died in 2010 while training in naval aviation training.
