The Autoroute 55 (A 55) is located in the Canadian province of Québec , it has a length of 247 km. The route begins in the south of the province on the border between Canada and the United States at Stanstead and ends at Shawinigan . As a core route, the route is part of the National Highway System

Laviolette Bridge over the St. Lawrence River

The route begins on the Vermont border at Shawinigan, where it merges with Interstate 91 . It runs in a northerly direction, past Magog . North of Magog, the route meets Autoroute 10 and runs together with this to Sherbrooke . Autoroute 10 ends in Sherbrooke, the A55 runs parallel to the Rivière Saint-François to Drummondville . West of the city, the route meets Autoroute 20 , about 40 km run together. A55 continues in a north-westerly direction to Trois-Rivières . It crosses the St. Lawrence River over the Laviolette Bridge and then meets the Autoroute 40 , with which the A55 shares a short stretch. A 55 continues northwest and ends at Shawinigan.
