The Autoroute 85 is a road running (Freeway) in the eastern Canadian province of Québec that the Trans-Canada Highway is one system. It begins as a junction of Autoroute 20 at Rivière-du-Loup , the western section ends after 12 km at Saint-Antonin . The eastern section is between Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha! and the border with New Brunswick .
Route description
Autoroute 85 branches off from Autoroute 20 at Rivière-du-Loup in an easterly direction. After 7 km, Route 191 begins at an exit . This leads first to the center of Rivière-du-Loup and then on to Cacouna . The car route heads south-east and ends after another 5 km at Saint-Antonin. The route continues as route 185 to Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!. This is where the eastern section begins, which leads south along Lac Témiscouatas . The route runs past Dégelis along the Madawaska River . At Edmundston Airport it reaches the border with New Brunswick and continues from there as Route 2 to Edmundston .
Expansion projects
In the medium term, Autoroute 85 will replace Route 185, which still runs between Saint-Antonin and Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha! consists. The renovation work should be completed by 2025. This will create a continuous motorway from Arnprior near Ottawa , the Ontario Highway 417 to New Glasgow on the Nova Scotia Highway 104 .
