The Neufahrn (Niederbay) station is a place of business of the railway lines Munich-Regensburg and Neufahrn-Radldorf . It is the only train station in the Neufahrn municipality in Lower Bavaria in the Landshut district . After commissioning in 1859, it was initially an intermediate station on the route from Landshut via Geiselhöring to Regensburg . When the line from Neufahrn via Eggmühl to Obertraubling went into operation in 1873, it became a separation station .

location

The Neufahrn (Niederbay) station is located at 99.22 km on the double-track , electrified main line Munich – Regensburg (route number 5500). The single-track, non-electrified branch line Neufahrn – Radldorf (route number 5630) branches off to the north of the station and starts in Neufahrn at route kilometers 0.00. The station has four tracks , three of which are platform tracks . The two western tracks, each with a platform edge, form the continuous main tracks .

The train station is located on Bahnhofstrasse, around 500 meters south of the center of Neufahrn. The address of the former reception building is Bahnhofstrasse 7 . On the west side are railway facilities through the Bahnhofstrasse and the factory premises of the company Erlus limited. To the east of the track system that is in operation, the former railway site lies fallow; this area is limited to the east by the path to the railway line and the Goldbach . In the south, the station area begins roughly at the level of the Salzburgweg level crossing , in the north at around the railway bridge over the Goldbach.

history

The railway line from Landshut via Geiselhöring to Regensburg, on which Neufahrn is located, was put into operation by the Actiengesellschaft der Bavarian Eastern Railways on December 12, 1859. The station was initially an intermediate station on this route. In the summer of 1870, construction work began on the Neufahrn – Eggmühl – Obertraubling route, which was intended to shorten the route between Landshut and Regensburg considerably. When it opened on August 6, 1873, Neufahrn became a separation station. Due to its importance as a railway junction , the station received its representative three-part station building in 1873, which has been preserved to this day.

In the 1920s the Munich – Regensburg railway line was electrified. The electrical operation between Landshut and Neufahrn was taken on October 1, 1926 between Neufahrn and Regensburg on 10 May 1927. On 30 November 1989, the first was in Neufahrn electronic interlocking of SEL AG in operation. After the prototype had proven itself, full operation began in 1990. On April 24, 2004, a new electronic interlocking went into operation resulting from the operations center is remotely controlled Munich.

On October 11, 2019, there was a smoldering fire in the reception building on the Fehlboden false ceiling on the second floor. The rapid intervention of the surrounding fire departments prevented a major fire . At that time the station building was rebuilt; several apartments were to be built there.

Infrastructure

The station has three platform tracks on the house platform (track 1) and an island platform (tracks 2 and 3). The fourth track is not used for passenger traffic . Both platforms are 274 meters long; the platform edges are 55 centimeters above the top of the rails . The island platform is connected via a pedestrian underpass . Due to the lack of elevators , the station is currently not barrier-free . He has digital displays . The station building has been preserved to this day, but is no longer accessible to passengers.
