The Beko BBL-Pokal 2010 was the 1st edition of the cup competition in the German men's basketball club as the league cup of the first national basketball league . The organization of this competition is subordinate to the League Association of the Basketball Bundesliga. Before that, there was a cup competition for 33 years under the patronage of the German Basketball Federation , which determined the German cup winner in men's club basketball . For the previous competition, the teams from the national divisions of the first and second national basketball league as well as teams that had qualified through the cup competitions of the regional associations were qualified.

For the qualification for this competition, the rankings of the Basketball Bundesliga 2009/10 after the first half of the season were decisive. In addition to the host of the Final Four tournament, the six best-placed teams in the first round table were also qualified. If the host was among the first six best-placed teams, the seventh-placed team was also qualified. The pairings were determined by lottery, which also decided on the home right in the qualifying round. The winner or advancement in the competition was determined in the knockout system within a regular basketball game. There was no second leg; if it was a draw after 40 minutes of regular playing time, extensions of five minutes each were played until a winner was determined at the end of an extension.

The winner of the competition was automatically qualified for the BBL Champions Cup at the beginning of the following season of the Basketball Bundesliga .

Event

The hosts were the Deutsche Bank Skyliners from Frankfurt am Main . Because of the better direct comparison after the first half of the season, the Eisbären Bremerhaven qualified for the competition. Without exception, the home teams were able to win in the qualifying round. On the Top Four weekend from April 10th to 11th, 2010 in the Ballsporthalle Frankfurt , hosts Skyliners Frankfurt lost the final game against Brose Baskets from Bamberg, who later won the play-off finals of the championship against the same opponent .
