The results in the first half of the 2013/14 Basketball Bundesliga were decisive for qualifying for this competition . As in the previous year, a cup table was set up based on the results of the first half of the Bundesliga, in which the games of the host of the Final Fours were not taken into account. In addition to the automatically qualified host, the six best-placed teams in this cup table were also qualified. The pairings were determined by lottery, which also decided on the home right in the qualifying round. The winner or advancement in the competition was determined in the knockout system within a regular basketball game.

The winner of the competition was automatically qualified for the BEKO BBL Champions Cup at the beginning of the 2014/15 Basketball Bundesliga .
