history

Settlement and first mention

Settlement took place from 900 to 1200.

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1447 , namely in an "invoice from Joh. Van Flamersfelt , Saynischer Rentmeister zu Homburg " (HStA Wiesbaden ). The spelling of the first mention was Benrode . The name means clearing of Benno; Short for Bernhard (the bear strength). According to the Fuder-Haber-Zettel (feed oat list) of the Marienberghausen chapel district, the place was inhabited by 12 families / farm owners in 1579.

particularities

Benroth bears the title "Ecological Village of the Future". The ecological remodeling through small and large measures (e.g. wetlands , dry stone walls , hedges, desettlement) can be seen in the appearance of the village. The approximately one-hour walk ("eco mile") through the village provides an insight into the project.
