Bermbach is a district of Weilburg in the Limburg-Weilburg district in Central Hesse . The village is the smallest district of Weilburg.
geography
The place is in the eastern Hintertaunus , east of the Weilburg core city and directly on the district border to the Lahn-Dill district . The highest point near Bermbach is the Grauenstein at 349 meters (above sea level).
Neighboring towns are Laimbach (southwest), Hirschhausen (northwest), Philippstein (northeast) and Altenkirchen (east).
history
The place was first mentioned in a document as Barenbach in the Lorsch Codex, an inventory of the Lorsch Monastery . Another mention was made in 1253 when the Altenberg monastery received a farm in Bereinbach from Rudolf von Garbenheim from Wetzlar.
Until the German War in 1866, Bermbach belonged to the Duchy of Nassau . After the subsequent annexation by Prussia , Bermbach became an independent municipality part of the newly created Oberlahnkreis in the Prussian province of Hesse-Nassau .
Territorial reform
On December 31, 1970 , as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the previously independent communities of Ahausen, Bermbach, Drommershausen, Gaudernbach, Hasselbach, Hirschhausen, Kirschhofen, Odersbach and Waldhausen and the city of Weilburg merged on a voluntary basis to form the expanded city of Weilburg. This made Bermbach a district of Weilburg.
