history

Former school

The place is mentioned for the first time in the Prümer Urbar in the year 881. There Waldhausen is mentioned as Mark Ualthusa . The main sources of income were agriculture and mining until 1960. After that, new jobs were created by opening up an industrial and commercial enterprise with the settlement of businesses.

On December 31, 1970 , as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the previously independent communities of Ahausen, Bermbach, Drommershausen, Gaudernbach, Hasselbach, Hirschhausen, Kirschhofen, Odersbach and Waldhausen and the city of Weilburg merged on a voluntary basis to form the expanded city of Weilburg. This made Waldhausen a district of Weilburg.

Through the designation of building areas and their development, the Waldhausen district and the core town of Weilburg have grown together.
