Odersbach is a district of Weilburg in the Limburg-Weilburg district in Central Hesse .
geography
Odersbach lies at an altitude of 168 m above sea level. NHN near the city center on the Westerwald side of the Lahn. The district of the former municipality of Odersbach borders in the north on Waldhausen , in the east on Weilburg , in the south by a footbridge over the Lahn on Kirschhofen , in the south-west on Wirbelau and in the west on Gaudernbach and Hasselbach .
history
In the year 881 Odinesbach is mentioned for the first time as a brook name in a document of the Prüm monastery . The name of the settlement Odenspach is mentioned for the first time in 1324, in 1355 there are reports of vineyards near Odersbach.
Earlier sources of income were in addition to agriculture, the work in the nearby basalt quarry Steinbühl and from 1843 in the Roteisenstein mine conservation .
In Odersbach there is a half-timbered house from 1586.
Territorial reform
On December 31, 1970 , as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the previously independent communities of Ahausen, Bermbach, Drommershausen, Gaudernbach, Hasselbach, Hirschhausen, Kirschhofen, Odersbach and Waldhausen and the city of Weilburg merged on a voluntary basis to form the expanded city of Weilburg. This made Odersbach a district of Weilburg.

After the local elections in Hesse in 2011 , Karl-Peter Wirth (SPD) was elected mayor of Odersbach on May 2, 2011. In the constituent meeting of the local council after the local elections in 2016, he was confirmed in the office. His deputy was Werner Stoll (FWG) until April 28, 2016. In the constituent meeting on April 28, 2016, Jan Kramer (SPD) and Heinz-Jürgen Deuster (Greens) were elected as new deputies. After Wirth resigned from the office of mayor in October 2017, Heinz-Jürgen Deuster was elected as the new mayor by the local council on November 23, 2017.

At the local level, there are the associations BvD local group Odersbach, SPD local district Odersbach, Evangelische Frauenhilfe Odersbach, Freiwillige Feuerwehr Odersbach e. V., since 1934 (including youth fire brigade, since December 17, 1984), Judo Club Odersbach, men's choir "Frohsinn" Odersbach, sports club SV 1960 Odersbach e. V, VdK local group Odersbach as well as the Kur- und Verkehrsverein Odersbach eV In August 2011 the association for the promotion of Freibad Odersbach eV was founded with the aim of ensuring the continued existence of the municipal swimming pool in Odersbach.
Infrastructure
The Weilburg youth hostel and a youth forest home of the German Forest Protection Association are located above the village. The campsite operated by the Odersbacher Kur- und Verkehrsverein is located directly on the Lahn . A pedestrian bridge over the Lahn connects Odersbach with the Kirschhofen district.
In Odersbach the volunteer fire brigade Odersbach, founded in 1934 (including youth fire brigade , founded December 17, 1984) provides fire protection and general help. For some years now, fire protection has been maintained by the Waldhausen volunteer fire brigade, as Odersbach no longer has its own emergency department. There is a municipal day-care center "Fizzli Puzzlis" in Odersbach.
There is the community center on Albert-Schweitzer-Straße, a sports field, barbecue hut, children's playgrounds, a small outdoor pool, as well as hiking trails and a youth room.
