Bernshausen is a district of Bad Laasphe in the Rothaargebirge in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district of North Rhine-Westphalia . The village, which belongs to the Wittgensteiner Land, has about 70 inhabitants.

Geographical location

Bernshausen is located east of the main ridge of the Rothaargebirge about 21 km east of Siegen , 18 km north of Dillenburg , 7 km southwest of Bad Laasphe and 3 km (as the crow flies ) southwest of its district Banfe . In the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park at heights between 420 and 460  m above sea level. It is located south of the Banfe tributary, the Bernshaeuser Bach (Bernshaeuser Water) . To the southwest the landscape rises to the 694.1  m high compass , the highest mountain in the Bad Laaspheer urban area. In the vicinity the rivers Eder , Lahn and Sieg have their source close together , with the Lahn in the upper reaches of the source near the source being fed by the Ilse, which flows in the northern neighboring valley of the village .

history

In a document by Reinhard von Feudingen from 1237, Bernshausen was first mentioned as a family and place name: Konrad von Berntzhaußen . On April 6, 1313, the knights of Bicken waived their tithe at Bernshausen. From 1363 the place belongs to the Zeche Banfe and from 1578 to the Schulzerei Banfe. The later independent municipality in the Laasphe district became part of the newly formed town of Laasphe through the municipal reform on January 1, 1975.

Economy and tourism

Although Bernshausen is still located in an agricultural region of the Rothaargebirge, there are hardly any full-time businesses in agriculture and forestry. Apart from a Blue Cross recreational home, there are no other restaurants or accommodation options in the village.

Bernhausen is due to the almost 2 km long and ending in the village of County Road  38, from the Bad Laasphe on the national highway 62 only then westward to Banfe and south to Fischelbach leading country road  branches off 718 west. South-east of Fischelbach the state road changes into the road leading to Dietzhölztal (first L 3044 and then L 3043 in Hesse ); there is a connection to Dillenburg via the federal highway 253 . The closest motorway entrances are in the west near and in Siegen , in the southwest near Wilnsdorf and in the south near Dillenburg - both on the federal highway 45 (Sauerland line) .

There is a bus stop for the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Westfalen-Süd in Bernshausen . The next regional train stations are in Bad Laasphe , Herborn , Dillenburg and Siegen . The nearest international airports are Frankfurt Airport , Cologne / Bonn Airport and Dortmund Airport ; Nearby there is Siegerland Airport , from which there are currently no scheduled flights.
