Bettina Franke

Bettina Franke (* 1957 in Rotenburg (Wümme) , according to other sources in Bremen ) is a German theater actress .

Life

Franke is the daughter of the Bremen Senator Horst Werner Franke, who died in 2004, and the student councilor Doris Franke. She grew up in Bremen , where she lived until she graduated from high school . Franke completed an acting course at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Hamburg , which she graduated with a diploma as a stage actress. Her teachers included Boy Gobert , Peter Striebeck and Rolf Becker .

She had her first engagement under the directorship of Peter Palitzsch at the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt . There she appeared as Ophelia in Die Hamletmaschine (1980, with Peter Roggisch as Hamlet; director: Walter Adler ) and as Maria in Kasimir und Karoline (1980) alongside Klaus Wennemann as Der Merkl Franz. Another permanent engagement followed at the Staatstheater Darmstadt , which she resigned after three years. In 1984, following a call from Artistic Director Jürgen Bosse , she went first as a guest, then as a permanent member of the ensemble at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . There she played in Spring Awakening (1984, director: Harald Clemen ), the title role in Rose Bernd (1985), Luise in Kabale und Liebe (1985, with Walter Sittler as Ferdinand, director: Harald Clemen), Solveig in Peer Gynt (1985, directed by Jürgen Bosse), Ophelia in Hamlet (1986) and Anna in Drums in the Night (1987, directed by Jürgen Bosse). Franke stayed at the National Theater in Mannheim for a total of five years.

Franke then had other permanent engagements at the Stuttgart State Theater and the Karlsruhe State Theater . In Karlsruhe she was in Top Dogs by Urs Widmer (with Gerry Hungbauer , October 1998), as Frau Millerin in Kabale und Liebe (November 1998), as Christie Ross in Die Welle (March 2000), as Ines Finidori in Drei Mal Life (April 2001), as Julia in Otello may not burst by Ken Ludwig (March 2002) and as Katarine Egermann in Scenes of a Marriage (March 2002). In October 2001 Franke took on the role of Ingrid in the world premiere of the comedy Three Fish for Two Pairs by Bodo Kirchhoff in Karlsruhe .

In the course of her career, Franke has played over 30 leading theater roles. Her roles also included: Miranda in Der Sturm , Isabella in Maß für Maß , Cordelia in König Lear , Marie in Woyzeck , Nina in Die Möwe , Mascha and Olga in Drei Schwestern , Anna in Gorki and Charlotte in Der Kirschgarten .

Franke has been working as a freelance actress since 2003. In 2002 she had a guest engagement at the Comedy winter Fährhaus with the comedy Just between you by Alan Ayckbourn ; her partners were Nicole Heesters , Saskia Fischer and Holger Daemgen . At the Comedy Frankfurt she took on the roles of Mrs. Hopkins and Mrs. Eynsford-Hill in the musical My Fair Lady . At the Fritz-Rémond-Theater in Frankfurt am Main she appeared in Kleist's Der zerbrochne Krug . In the 2006/2007 season she took on the role of Frau Millerin in Kabale und Liebe at the Ingolstadt Theater ; She also played this role when this production was resumed in the 2010/2011 season.

Franke was also active as a speaker for radio plays and audio books . In 1982 she worked in a co-production of Südwestfunk and Westdeutscher Rundfunk in the role of friend Christina in the radio play Tot, temporarily with Antonio Skármeta . At Wellhöfer Verlag , for which she also works as an artistic consultant, she read the audio book Mord im Quadrat , Mannheimer Mordgeschichten by Walter Landin .

In recent years Franke has mainly appeared publicly as a reciter . Among other things, she gave reading evenings with texts by Heinrich Heine , Johann Peter Hebel , Jakob Wassermann and with excerpts from the diaries of Clara Schumann and Robert Schumann .

In the late 1970s she played the role of Anke in the television series Neues aus Uhlenbusch . In 1979 she was also seen as an actress on the ARD television show One will win .

She lives in Mannheim with her two grown-up children .
