Images on the Voyager Golden Record
The images on the Voyager Golden Record form the first section on the interstellar data disk. The data track contains 115 images stored in analog form, plus a test image for calibration. This is the only picture that is also on the "Interstellar Instructions for Use" (rectangle with circle). The rest consists of audio data (speech and pieces of music).
Coding the images
The images are coded analogously on the plate. The company Colorado video was ready to turn on its investment, the images for free as a public service in tone. Of the 116 illustrations, only 18 are color photographs . The other 98 images, which also consist of diagrams and drawings, are in black and white , as a color image would have required three times as much storage space and thus three times as much time to record on the plate.
photos
The images are sorted in the order in which they are on the data disk. In the picture or web link column , either the original picture is shown, or as long as there is no copyright release for it, a web link to the corresponding NASA site , if the picture is not available on their site, the web link is marked with a * .
