Stuttgart is the most important educational location in Baden-Württemberg . The city has z. Currently over 11 colleges (including 2 universities) and around 200 schools, including around 170 public schools. In the 2005/06 school year 19,280 pupils attended the 76 primary schools, 7208 pupils attended the 36 secondary schools, 2629 pupils attended the 28 special schools, 8052 pupils attended the 22 secondary schools, 19,283 pupils attended the 34 grammar schools, and 2348 pupils attended the three (now four) Waldorf schools. The educational institutions are administered by the Stuttgart Regional Council - Schools and Education in Stuttgart-Rosenberg. The teachers in Stuttgart are: 792 full-time and 829 part-time employees at elementary and secondary schools, 223 and 183 full-time and part-time employees at special schools, 254 and 208 at secondary schools and 587 and 557 at grammar schools.

Former educational institutions

  • 1989–2008: Vocational college for metallography at the Max Planck Institute for Metal Research in Stuttgart: The vocational college existed from 1981 to 2008. In 2006 the 25th anniversary was celebrated. Shortly before, the closure was announced in 2008. The Max Planck Institute for Metals Research was renamed the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.
