The Roman Catholic Diocese of Sora-Cassino- Aquino-Pontecorvo ( lat. : Dioecesis Sorana-Cassinensis-Aquinatensis-Pontiscurvi , ital. : Diocese of Sora-Aquino-Pontecorvo ) is in Italy situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Sora .
history
In the 3rd century the diocese of Sora was established and placed directly under the Holy See . The diocese of Sora was annexed on June 27, 1818 by Pope Pius VII with the Apostolic Constitution De utiliori, the diocese of Aquino and Pontecorvo .
On September 30, 1986 the diocese of Aquino, Sora, and Pontecorvo was renamed by the Congregation for the Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis in the diocese of Sora-Aquino-Pontecorvo .
On October 23, 2014, Pope Francis incorporated the 53 parishes previously belonging to the Territorial Abbey of Montecassino into the diocese with the Motu Proprio Ecclesia Catholica and renamed it the Diocese of Sora-Cassino-Aquino-Pontecorvo.
