Blomberg (Low German Bloombarg ) is a municipality in the southeast of the joint municipality of Holtriem in the district of Wittmund in East Frisia in Lower Saxony . In 2004 the municipality had about 1400 inhabitants and covers an area of 12.80 square kilometers. Blomberg borders (beginning in the west) on the community Neuschoo (also integrated community Holtriem), the communities Moorweg and Dunum (both integrated community Esens ) as well as the Aurich district of Langefeld . The districts Altgaude, Nordmoor, Schoo and Südmoor belong to the community.
history
The Blomberg settlement was created by the Prussian colonization from 1765. The Evangelical-Lutheran Blomberg Church was built in 1870 in neo-Gothic style.
Since 1972 the community has belonged to the Holtriem community.

The council of the municipality Blomberg consists of eleven council women and councilors. This is the specified number for the member municipality of an integrated municipality with a population between 1001 and 2000 inhabitants. The eleven council members are elected by local elections for five years each. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.
