Boblas

Location of Boblas in Saxony-Anhalt

Boblas is a district of the city of Naumburg (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The village of Boblas is located about 4 km south of the city of Naumburg on the edge of the Loess hill country around Zeitz and Naumburg, an offshoot of the Leipzig lowland bay . The Boblaser district forms part of the Saale-Unstrut-Triasland geo-nature park.

history

The foundation and the origin of the place Boblas are not known. The spelling of the name Bobeluz or Poblitz suggests a Slavic settlement. The place name is derived from Bob (camp towns for grazing) and Luce (swamp, morass). This interpretation is justified by the fact that the Kugelbach used to form swampy meadows in the vicinity of the village, which later only disappeared due to the drainage and deforestation.

The first mention of the place and the highly respected and free dynasty family comes from a document from Bishop Udo I of Naumburg from 1140 about the relocation of the Cistercian monastery from Schmölln to Pforte. There is also a Nobiles Reinhardus de Bobuluz among the witnesses . The brother of Reinhard von Bebelz , Berthold was 1130 dean, provost in 1140 and 1154 to 1161 as I. Berthold of Boblas Bishop of the Diocese of Naumburg . The family was last mentioned in 1204, when Berthold von Bobeluz received the village of Tribun ( Flemmingen ) as a fief. In the document book Hst, Naumburg p. 187, January 3, 1148 was mentioned for the first time. Subsequently, the place was as a fief to the taverns of the Rudelsburg . In 1413 the von Bünau family received the village from the Margrave of Meißen as a fief. Boblas appears more frequently in the documents of the Naumburg cathedral monastery, which owned goods there. The manor in Boblas, which already existed at that time, also owned goods in Neidschütz .

BW

In 1578 the Boblaser manor house was built. The von Portzig family then owned the estate, which they sold to the von Tümpling family in 1730 . The last owners were the von der Planitz family . For several centuries Boblas belonged to the Wettin district office of Eisenberg , which, due to several divisions during its existence, was under the sovereignty of various Ernestine duchies .

In 1676 the red dysentery broke out in Boblas, claiming many victims. After the epidemic broke out again in 1681, the place had to be cordoned off from the environment. Old church records show that 15 people died of the disease in one year alone. In 1772 Pastor Zeidler still thought of a lazy fever. In addition to a tailor, carpenter, butcher, blacksmith and armorer, there was even a surgeon and barber named Johann Gottlieb Renner who was resident in the village in 1765. In addition to shaving and scissors, he also mastered the art of cupping and bloodletting. When a distillery was working in Boblas at the end of the 18th century, the residents were happy too. The local history reports of an increase in gambling and drinking addiction in these years.

In the early 19th century, Boblas belonged to the Principality of Saxony-Altenburg. At that time, Boblas had 28 houses and 200 residents. In the north and east, the Boblaser Mark has bordered Prussia since 1815, which Boblas also served post office. In 1826 the place came with the northern part of the Eisenberg district office from the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen and became part of the Camburg exclave . In 1853 there were 625 sheep, 114 cattle, 106 pigs, 29 horses and 27 goats in Boblas. After the grazing land was no longer available, the number of livestock was reduced and there were only 183 pigs, 174 cattle, 38 goats and 34 horses but no more sheep. The number of animals increased slowly and in 1892 there were 238 pigs, 210 cattle, 70 goats, 38 horses and 7 sheep.

From 1922 to 1939 Boblas belonged to the Camburg district department , then to the Thuringian district of Stadtroda until 1948 , then briefly to the district of Jena . During the territorial reform of 1952 in the GDR , Boblas came to the newly formed Naumburg district in the Halle district , which ended his affiliation with Thuringia. In 1957 Boblas lost its municipal status and was affiliated with Neidschütz. As a result of the regional reform after the reunification of the two German states, Boblas came to the Burgenland district and was incorporated into Naumburg on July 13, 1991.

Boblaser Church

Boblas Church

The church , built in the 13th century, was equipped with an organ (built in 1695) from Altenrode in 1717. In 1747 and 1752 the church was renovated.

In 1995 the old weather vane was removed and replaced by a faithful replica. In 1997 the tower clock was repaired and in 2000 the church was extensively restored. In 2011, a general overhaul of the tower clock was carried out, financed by donations from the Boblaser residents. In 2016, the movement was electrified on its own initiative. Until the changeover, the bell tower had to be climbed daily to lift weights by hand.

Mills

There are two mills in Boblas, the Neumühle and the Lochmühle.

The Neumühle was the largest and most important mill in the valley. The mill, first mentioned in 1670, burned down in 1882 and was then rebuilt. With a diameter of nine meters, it had the largest mill wheel in Thuringia. However, due to severe damage caused by the harsh winter of 1933, this was replaced by a turbine. A bakery and an inn continued to belong to the mill, but these were closed from 1942.

In 1953 the mill property was surprised by a huge flood. The mill became unusable due to the mass of mud. The old wooden bridge was replaced by a concrete bridge in 1978, which was washed away 22 years later by the terrible flood on April 30, 2000.

Boblas and the flood

Also under flood Boblas had much to suffer. After heavy thunderstorms or thaws, the Kugelbach and Bielbach were often unable to contain the water masses. This was particularly dangerous for Boblas, as the entire slopes of the Molauer Platte between Prießnitz , Neuflemmingen , Janisroda and the Buchholz led their floods into the valley. In the chronicle, such floods are mentioned in 1674, 1749, 1750, 1751, 1821 and 1845 and major building damage is listed. In 1977 the Bielbach and Kugelbach also flooded, with the Kugelbach Bridge being destroyed, which has not been restored to this day, but has been replaced by a new bridge. The last major flood was in 2000. The nocturnal flood had washed away vast amounts of mud on streets and properties. The envy protector Bach even took the concrete bridge with him.

Boblas volunteer fire department

It is not known when the volunteer fire brigade was founded. What is certain is that the fire brigade is in all likelihood older than the hand-held pressure sprayer from 1886, which was used as the basis. This was later replaced by a motorized sprayer from Flader (built in 1935).

The ladder house, which was used to store the fire department ladders, was built as early as 1850 . Later it is used as a village meeting point. In 2008 it was completely renovated.

In the GDR, the fire brigade was a command post of the Neidschütz volunteer fire brigade. With the incorporation into Naumburg (Saale) , the weir became an independent local fire brigade again.

In 1992 the youth fire brigade , a successor organization to the young fire protection workers, is founded. Operations have been inactive since 2017.

In 2011, the Boblas volunteer fire brigade received a team transport vehicle ( VW T5, built in 2010). It replaces a small fire engine ( Barkas B 1000 , built in 1982) that the fire brigade received in 1993. The load of the small fire engine was essentially loaded onto a car trailer (which functions as a portable pump trailer ).

Then as now, around a quarter of the villagers are members of the fire service.

Since 2004, the fire brigade has held the Boblaser Kite Festival every year on the day before the time change from summer to winter time.

Shooting club

The former guest rooms of the Neumühle are connected to a special event in the village chronicle. In 1906 13 residents founded the Boblas-Neidschütz shooting club in the restaurant . The then village school teacher Bähring is in charge. The community found ideal conditions for a lively club life in the Neumühle premises. In addition, the former owner of Neumühle was a committed pioneer and founding member.

When Neumühle was sold in 1919, the club members had to look for a new domicile. Following a favorable situation, the waste dump of the former, bankrupt coal mine "Georgsvereinigung" was bought and cultivated. Paths were laid out and a shooting range built. A rifle house and a restaurant with a large hall were jointly built on the site.

The activities continued even during the Second World War. After the end of the war, which also claimed many victims from the ranks of the club, the shooting club ended.

After 1990 only the now large trees reminded of the past. On May 24, 1991 14 bob lasers called the "Schützenverein Neidschütz / Boblas" back to life in a basement room of the former village school. In autumn 1991 the riflemen held their first rifle festival, and the success showed that the residents were behind them. In 1992 the former consumer restaurant "Siedlungsklause", consisting of twelve container parts, was handed over by its owner at the time and moved to Schützenplatz and renovated by the association. The new club flag was consecrated on June 18, 1994. The realization that the local clubs are the color of the cultural landscape and the request to leave the Schützenplatz as property to the club brought the Schützen back into possession of this property on June 19, 1995 for a symbolic mark. The expansion and renovation of the former shooting range began in 1995. In 1996 a youth group was set up to clarify the question of young talent. When cleaning up, the old cannon is found, which can be used again in 2006 after a restoration. In 2006 the rifle chain, first mentioned in 1908, was found and handed over to the shooting club. The shooting festival takes place every year on the third weekend in June.
