Bohrau , Bórow in Lower Sorbian , is a district of the town of Forst (Lausitz) in the Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg . Bohrau lies in the official settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends .

Bohrau is located in Lower Lusatia about five kilometers west of the border with Poland and just under nine kilometers north of Forst. Surrounding villages are Briesnig in the north, Naundorf in the east, Mulknitz in the south, the district of Grötsch in the west and Heinersbrück in the north-west , which belongs to the municipality of Heinersbrück .
Bohrau is on the federal road 112 , which connects the place with Forst and Guben . The Jänschwalde open-cast lignite mine is located west of Bohrau . The former district of Klein Bohrau was demolished in 1986 in favor of the open pit.
history
Bohrau was first mentioned in 1546 as "Boraw". The place name comes from the Sorbian and means “settlement on the pine forest”.
After the Congress of Vienna , Bohrau, like all of Lower Lusatia, came to the Kingdom of Prussia . There the place was in the district of Bohrau in the district of Sorau (Lausitz) . Then Bohrau was in the Cottbus district until 1952 . On July 25, 1952 Bohrau was assigned to the newly formed Forst district in the Cottbus district and, after the fall of the Wall, was in the Forst district in Brandenburg . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , the municipality Bohrau came to the newly formed district Spree-Neisse and was incorporated into the city of Forst (Lausitz) together with nine other previously independent municipalities .
