history

In 2011, Philipp Käßbohrer and Matthias Murmann developed a pilot for Roche & Böhmermann. According to their own statements, it was initially just a project similar to a short film. The ZDF then ordered a series based on the pilot. Käßbohrer stated that he was not interested in television before, neither privately nor professionally.

With the articles of association dated January 17, 2012, Käßbohrer (Philipp Georg Käßbohrer) and Murmann (actually Matthias Joachim Schulz) each founded their media production company btf GmbH (bildundtonfabrik) with 50 percent of the company shares. In addition to producing Neo Magazin Royale (and its predecessor), the company produces feature films for various television programs, music videos for Get Well Soon and advertising films for 1 Live and Nissan .

The bildundtonfabrik also produces video games , such as the 2015 Adventure Game Royale - Raiders of the Bald Head and the Adventure Trüberbrook .

From 2014 to 2019, at least one btf production was awarded the Grimme Prize in the entertainment category six times in a row . In 2017, the bildundtonfabrik was nominated three times for the Grimme Prize: in the entertainment category - special for " #Verafake " and in the entertainment - innovation category for the "Einspielerschleife" from the program on April 7, 2016, both as part of Neo Magazin Royale, also for the production of The Unlikely Events in the Life of ...

In October 2018, the streaming provider announced Netflix as part of the Munich Media Days , represented by its Vice President of Original Series in Europe, for the year 2019 five new German-language projects. The series How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) (working title: Don't try this at home ) is produced by the bildundtonfabrik about a student who, together with friends, is starting a drug business out of a child's room in order to win back his great love. The script was written by Philipp Käßbohrer, Sebastian Colley and Stefan Titze. In April 2019, the series had its world premiere as part of the Canneseries series festival in Cannes .
