Location of the municipality

Campillos is a municipality in the comarca of Guadalteba in the northeast of the Andalusian province of Málaga . Campillos is 86 km from Málaga and about 30 km from Antequera .

The main source of income for the inhabitants is agriculture, there is also a leather industry and pig breeding. Campillos also has some educational institutions whose catchment area includes the surrounding towns such as Teba, Ardales, Sierra Yeguas and Almargen.

The town center is determined by a mixture of older mansions and modern buildings. The most important sight is the parish church Nuestra Señora del Reposo, dedicated to the patron saint of the place, which was built in 1506, but was heavily rebuilt in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The chapels of San Benito and San Sebastián are also worth seeing. There are remains of earlier settlements on the site, as well as Roman and Arab colonists.

The municipality is largely covered by olive groves and cornfields. The seven lagoons of the municipality, which, although they fall dry for most of the year, have been declared nature reserves, are welcomed by numerous birds, u. a. Flamingos and storks used.
