history
The name of the municipality is derived from the Los Álamos stream . The Marquis of Estepa had the church Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepción built in 1663 at the point where the roads to Málaga, Granada and Seville cross .
Archaeological finds in this area prove that Alameda was a central settlement point from the Paleolithic to the time of the Romans , the location of which corresponds exactly to the current city center. An important point in the history of Alameda occurred in 208 BC. When the inhabitants set fire to their village to save it from the siege of Lucio Marcio and to remain loyal to Carthage .
Little is known about the time after the Romans. Only by finding a treasure do we know that Visigoths lived in this place around the 6th century.
The parish has belonged to the Margraviate of Estepa since the 15th century . In the 17th century, Alameda was able to regain importance as important as it was under Roman rule. In the first half of the 19th century, Alameda was assigned to the province of Málaga.
Attractions
One of the most famous buildings of Alameda is the parish church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception ( Spanish Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepción ), which was commissioned by the Marquis of Estepa and was completed around 1700. This church is a baroque temple with three shrines dedicated to Jesús el Nazareno , the Virgen de Dolores and the Virgen del Rosario . All three are referred to as masterpieces of the Rococo . There is also a carving of the crucified Jesus Christ in the church , which was made by an unknown artist in the 14th century.
Other sights are the grave of " El Tempranillo ", one of the most famous bandoleros , and the Placeta fountain ( Spanish Fuente de la Placeta ).
