Carlo Felice Nicolis di Robilant
Carlo Felice Nicolis, Count of Robilant (born August 8, 1826 in Turin , † October 17, 1888 in London ) was an Italian general and statesman .
career
Robilant attended the military academy in Turin and then entered the military as a sub-lieutenant in 1843 , becoming a lieutenant in the artillery in 1846 . He distinguished himself in the battle of Novara on March 23, 1849 by great bravery, which cost him his left hand.

In 1867 Robilant was appointed Prefect of Ravenna and in 1871 Italian envoy to the court in Vienna , in 1876 also ambassador there . In 1883 he was appointed senator .
Through his mother with the Prussian nobility, through his wife, a Countess Ficquelmont, related to the Austrian, he knew how to shape the relationship between Italy and Germany and Austria more and more amicably and was therefore when these three powers formed a closer alliance in June 1885 appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs; but he resigned from this post in March 1887 because of the defeat of the Italian troops in the Battle of Dogali .
Appointed ambassador to London in June 1888, he died there on October 17, 1888.
