Carmen Jordá (born May 28, 1988 in Alcoi ) is a Spanish automobile racing driver . She drove in the GP3 series from 2012 to 2014 .

Career

Jordá began her motorsport career in karting in 1998 , where she was active until 2003. In 2005, Jordá made her formula racing debut in the Formula Master Junior, which she finished in seventh place. In 2006 she stayed in the series and finished ninth. She also took part in two races of the Spanish Formula 3 championship this season. In 2007 Jordá switched completely to the Spanish Formula 3 championship. With a twelfth place as the best result, she remained without points in her debut season. Since she started in an older vehicle model, she also took part in the Copa classification, which she finished in fourth place.

In 2008, Jordá stayed in the Spanish Formula 3 Championship and competed for Campos Racing . With a ninth place as the best result, she finished 22nd overall as the worst driver of her team, while her team-mate Germán Sánchez won the championship title. Jordá finished eighth in the Copa classification, which her teammate Natacha Gachnang won . In 2009, Jordá competed for various teams in the championship, which from this season was called the European F3 Open . A ninth place was again her best result and she was 21st in the championship. In the Copa classification she finished sixth. In addition, Jordá started three races in the Le Mans Series in the LMP2 class in 2009 .

In 2010 , Jordá moved to the North American Indy Lights for Andersen Racing . She took part in five of thirteen races and at the end of the season she finished in tenth place as the best result in 16th place in the drivers' standings. After taking part in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo in 2011, she received a cockpit at Ocean Racing Technology in the GP3 series for the 2012 season . Jordá became the first woman, along with Vicky Piria and Alice Powell , to take part in a GP3 race. Jordá remained without points and finished the season in 28th place overall. In 2013 , Jordá stayed in the GP3 series and switched to Bamboo Engineering . There she replaced Roberto La Rocca , who lost his cockpit after uncertain sponsorship before the start of the season. In contrast to their teammates Lewis Williamson and Melville McKee , who had achieved podium finishes, Jordá remained without points. She was 30th in the drivers' championship. In 2014 , Jordá played her third GP3 season for Koiranen GP . Jordá remained without points and lost her cockpit to Dean Stoneman two events before the end of the season . Stoneman achieved two victories in these events. Jordá was 29th overall at the end of the season.

In February 2015, the Lotus F1 Team announced that Jordá will take over the position of development driver for the team with immediate effect. In 2016 , Jordá stayed with Lotus’s successor team , the Renault Sport F1 Team, in the same position.
