The totally crazy mummy fright (also everything goes backwards ) is the twenty-seventh film in the series of carry-on ... films .

content

The two archaeologists Roland Crump and Anna Vrooshka would like to excavate an ancient Roman settlement. The problem with this, however, is that there is a campsite on the excavation site . As it is high season , it is full of campers who don't want to be bothered by scientific digging.

Remarks

The series has reached its worst time with The Totally Crazy Mummy Terror . The box office successes no longer wanted to be the same as before. Long-time screenwriter Talbot Rothwell had left the series and was replaced by obviously overwhelmed Dave Freeman . For the first time, an attempt was made to lure viewers into the cinema by bringing up a well-known guest star. But even Elke Sommer could neither save the film nor the success. Also, the one-time heroes of the series, Sidney James , Charles Hawtrey and Hattie Jacques , were sorely missed.

For Patsy Rowlands and Bernard Bresslaw , The Totally Crazy Mummy Horror was the last appearance in a carry on… . However, Joan Sims , who plays Patsy Rowlands' mother in the movie, is only four years older in real life.

The film actually takes place in summer, but it was bitterly cold at the time of shooting, and shooting even had to be interrupted at times because of snow. After that, the location was a muddy desert. The place was the same on which one shot The Totally Crazy Camping Paradise. It was part of the Pinewood Studio grounds . The problems resulting from the freak weather meant that the budget of the film was exceeded.

Reviews

  • "(...) Elke Sommer's rather comical humor keeps the weird slapstick of a remnant of the 'Carry on' team in place."
