El Tanque Sisley , shortly El Tanque Sisley (nickname: Tanque , Verdi Negro ), is a football club from Montevideo in Uruguay . The club's soccer team will play in the Uruguayan top division, the Primera División , in the 2017 season .
history
From the foundation to the first second division championship
The association was founded on March 17, 1955 by Víctor Della Valle, Enrique Fessler, Rubén Rodríguez and Jorge Codesal. The name was given with reference to the place of foundation, which was at the intersection of the Montevidean streets Cerro Largo and Yaguarón near a large petrol tank there. The club was called Club Atlético El Tanque . The club's first competitions were in the Palermo League . After being quite successful there, the decision was made to join the AUF . One rose in the fourth division in the league called "Extra B" at the time and in 1959, in the year of the first competition participation at the association level, became the unbeaten champion of this class. In 1961 one then drew a league level higher in the "Extra A" successfully. In 1972 they merged with Sportivo Italiano . In 1981 they became champions in the Segunda División . In December of that year it merged with the Centro Cultural y Deportivo Sisley, founded on April 16, 1941 . Since then, the association has been known as Centro Cultural y Deportivo El Tanque Sisley . In a 4-player relegation round, in which El Tanque Sisley, the clubs Fénix , Liverpool FC and Racing participated, you failed as third in the table, so El Tanque Sisley remained in the second division.
From the second second division title to the first international competition participation
After the second championship title in Uruguay's second division in 1990, promotion followed. In 1991 they played for one season in Uruguay's top division, the Primera División. The 2009/10 season ended again as a champion in the Segunda División and rose again to the top Uruguayan league.
The Torneo Apertura 2012 of the 2012/13 season ended as a surprise team of the season in fourth place in the table. Due to the financial situation of the club and the upheaval within the team due to the series change, successful coach Raúl Möller then left the club in the direction of league rivals Liverpool FC . On December 19, 2012, Osvaldo Canobbio was announced as the new coach. He looked after the team in the Clausura 2013 together with assistant Diego "Cáscara" Varela and goalkeeping coach Gustavo Desirello when he was first employed as head coach . At the end of the season, the 5th place in the table was then in the final table. For the club, this meant qualification for the Copa Sudamericana 2013 and, for the first time in the club's history, participation in an international competition. There they were eliminated in the first round against Colo Colo , which resulted in the separation of coach Canobbio on August 8, 2013 shortly before the start of the 2013/14 season. The successor was the immediate predecessor Raúl Möller.
With 7th place in Apertura 2013 and 14th in Clausura 2014, El Tanque Sisley took 13th place in the overall annual table for the 2013/14 season . In the following season 2014/15, the club narrowly avoided relegation as 9th in the overall annual table and 12th in the relegation ranking by winning on the last day of the match against their immediate competitor Atenas . The club's economic problems were then reported in the press. In addition to other players, team captain Andrés Aparicio and Joel Burgueño complained that the club was in arrears.
In the 2015/16 season, being fifteenth in the season table and due to the associated poor rating in the season-wide relegation ranking, relegation could no longer be prevented. Thus, in the mid-season of 2016, with which the year-round "European" rhythm is again changed over to the annual rhythm of the course of the season, you are playing in the second highest Uruguayan professional division.
