Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a winery in the Pauillac appellation near Bordeaux . Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste is also the name of the red wine that is produced on this estate. The château was rated in 1855 as one of eighteen Cinquièmes Crus Classés (Fifth Plant) in the official Bordeaux wine classification of 1855 . Vineyards

A few kilometers from Pauillac are the 36 hectares of vineyards of GPL, as his fans call it good short, 75% of the grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon , 20% Merlot and 5% with Cabernet Franc planted. Typically for this region, the soil consists of deep gravel on a limestone base.

The wine

Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste produces around 12,000 cases of wine (12 bottles of 0.75 liters each) in an average year. The fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel containers, then the wine is filled into barriques (50% of which are new every year) for a maturation phase of approx. 18 months.

Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste wine has a reputation far higher than its official fifth place and is usually excellent value for money. In its prime, GPL wine is a very typical representative the excellent Pauillac goods, with notes of black currants and cedar wood , balanced with a remarkable tannin structure. The best years were 1982, 1990, 1995, 1996 and 2000. The wine of the 2005 vintage is rated with 95  PP .

The second wine is called Lacoste-Borie . Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is accompanied and advised by the oenologist Jacques Boissenot and his son Eric.
