After the Winter Olympics ended, the Canadian returned to North America. He went to the end of the 1993/94 season to January 1995 for the Hershey Bears from the American Hockey League on the ice before he was included in the Flyers squad at the beginning of the late 1994/95 NHL season . His best playing year was the 1996/97 season , when he set career records with 22 assists, 24 points and a plus / minus balance of +27. In addition, the Flyers reached the final of the Stanley Cup , in which they were clearly defeated by the Detroit Red Wings . He scored the most goals in the 1995/96 season when he scored six times.

Therien's nine years with the Flyers came to an end on March 8, 2004, when he was given an eight-round vote in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and a third-round vote in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft to the Dallas Stars .
