biography

Ackermann competed in her first FIS races in December 2005 and four months later she was among the top ten for the first time. In the European Cup , she drove her first two races in February 2007 and started regularly from the 2007/08 season . In 2008 she started at the Junior World Championship in Spanish Formigal , where she achieved 7th place in slalom as the best result. The German achieved her first podium in the European Cup in the first slalom of the 2008/09 season on November 23rd in Funäsdalen and celebrated her first victory a few weeks later in Schruns .

After these successes, Ackermann was allowed to compete in the Slalom in Semmering for the first time in the World Cup on December 29, 2008 , but did not qualify for the second round. But just a week later she reached 15th place in her second World Cup race, the Zagreb Slalom . In the following season 2009/10 she drove in the slalom of Aspen in eighth place, which meant her best World Cup result to date. She was able to repeat this result on December 29, 2009 at the slalom in Lienz . At the 2010 Junior World Championships , she won the gold medal in slalom in Chamonix . Thanks to the results in the Ski World Cup, she qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and in an internal elimination in Canada together with Fanny Chmelar for the Olympic slalom on February 27, 2010 against Katharina Dürr , who only acted as a substitute skier. In this competition, she took 14th place.

On December 29, 2010, Ackermann finished third in the Semmering slalom and thus achieved her first podium finish in a World Cup race. At the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , she was disqualified in the first slalom run after a goal error. As in the 2010/11 season , Ackermann was among the top ten in two World Cup slaloms in the 2011/12 winter, just missing out on another podium finish as fourth in Lienz.

After a few weaker years, in which Ackermann was also injured, she was able to catch up with the world's best in the winter of 2016/17 and finished the season 14th in the slalom classification. She also took part in the 2017 World Cup in St. Moritz , but was eliminated there in the first round. At the City Event in Stockholm in January 2018, she took 5th place. In preparation for the 2018 Olympic Games , she finished 7th in the slalom in Kranjska Gora . At the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang , Ackermann pulled out in the second run after a stab in his ankle and gave up. The 2018/19 season started promisingly with a 5th place in Zagreb and a 6th place in Flachau. The season finally culminated in the City Event of Stockholm, where she only had to admit defeat to the dominator of winter, Mikaela Shiffrin , and could thus celebrate her second podium in a World Cup individual race.

In the following season 2019/20 she was able to achieve top 10 results. In the Killington slalom , she only just missed the podium in 4th place. After the end of the season, she announced her retirement from alpine ski racing on March 15, 2020 via Instagram .
