James C. Condos

James C. Condos , called Jim Condos (born January 29, 1951 in Orange , New Jersey ), is an American politician who has been Secretary of State of Vermont since 2011 .

Life

James C. Condos was born in Orange, New Jersey. When he was four years old, his family moved to Vermont, Chittenden County . There he attended public schools. Later, after moving, he went to school in South Burlington . He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1974.

Condos is responsible for public relations for Vermont Gas Systems, Inc. , in South Burlington. He has served on the Chittendon County Regional Planning Commission , the CCRPC Transportation and Utilities Committee , the Chittenden County Solid Waste District , the Chittenden County Transportation Authority , the VLCT Finance, Administration & Intergovernmental Relations Committee, and the South Burlington Zoning Board . Since 1989 he has been a member of South Burlington City Council and since 1999 the chairman of the City Council. Condos is a member of the Democratic Party and was a member of the Vermont Senate from 2001 to 2008 .

He has also been a member of the Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization since 1999 , as well as the Vermont league of Cities and Towns of the VLCT Transportation Committee and the Vermont Public Transit Advisory Council , as well as the National League of Cities Policy Steering Committee on Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources and the NLC Clean Air Task Force .

He is married to Cindy Hall. The couple have a daughter.
