Constantin Lupulescu (born March 25, 1984 in Buftea ) is a Romanian chess player . Since April 2006 he has held the title of Grand Master .

Life

In 1998 he received the bronze medal at the European Youth Championships U14 in Mureck , and in 2000 the silver medal at the European Championships U16 in Chalkidiki . In 2002 in Sovata and again in 2003 in Voineasa he became Romanian U20 champion. In October 2002 he won the Blue Autumn tournament in Bucharest , in August 2003 the Centrocoop Trophy in Eforie Nord . He won the Blue Autumn tournament again in October 2003. In December 2003 he was tied for first at the December 1989 Revolution tournament in Bucharest. In June 2004 he was split first in the Sea Coast Trophy in Eforie Nord, in July 2004 shared first in Corinth . He won the Winter Cup in Bucharest in January 2006 by a large margin. At the Pius Brinzau Memorial in Timișoara in March 2006, he was split first. In May 2006 he won the May Roses Cup in Bucharest. In 2007 he won the Romanian individual championship for the first time. In December 2007 he won the December 1989 Revolution Memorial in Bucharest. He won the Romanian individual championship for the second time in 2010 in Băile Olăneşti , for the third time in 2011 in Sărata-Monteoru and for the fourth time in 2012 (held in February 2013 in Băile Olăneşti) and for the fifth time in 2015 in Călimăneşti . In 2019 he won the Reykjavík Open .

National team

In 2002 Lupulescu became European champion in Hungary with the Romanian U18 national team and also received a gold medal for his performance of 5 out of 7 on the first board. With the Romanian national team, he took part in the 2004 , 2008 , 2012 and 2014 Chess Olympiads and in the European Team Championships in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013.

He plays club chess in Romanian (for CS Aem Luxten Timișoara ), German (from 2008 to 2017 for SG Trier , in the 2017/18 season for DJK Aufwärts St. Josef Aachen 1920 ), Hungarian (from 2006 to 2016 for Aquaprofit Nagykanizsai Tungsram Sakk-Klub , since 2017 for ASE Paks ), Bulgarian, Greek (for Panionios GSS ), French (from 2008 for Belfort Échecs ), Polish (for WKSz Kopernik Wrocław ), British (for Manx Liberty ) and Turkish 1. and 2nd and the Serbian 1st and 2nd league. With Aquaprofit he was Hungarian team champion in the seasons 2006/07 , 2008/09 , 2009/10 , 2010/11 , 2011/12 , 2012/13 , 2013/14 , 2014/15 and 2015/16 , with Timișoara he was Romanian team champion in 2007.
