GDR team championship in chess 1956
At the GDR team championship in chess in 1956 , SC Wissenschaft Halle won the title and, after 1955, won the GDR team championship for the second time.
A round-robin tournament was played , with each team fighting each other eight team fights on eight boards, the so-called Scheveningen system . There were a total of 48 team fights, so 384 games.
With a view to the formation of priorities, a restructuring of the top divisions was decided in 1955. A special league was created for the 1955/56 season.
The championship started with its first meeting on October 28, 1955 in Berlin , which SC Wissenschaft Halle won against SC Motor Berlin with 16.5: 15.5 points. The last fights of the 1955/1956 season ended exactly one year later on October 28, 1956. The other dates were: December 9-11, 1955 in Dresden, January 27-29, 1956 in Berlin, February 10-12 1956 in Leipzig, Leipzig versus Halle , September 7 to 9, 1956 in Dresden, September 28 to 30, 1956 in Halle and Leipzig.
