GDR team championship in chess 1969

At the GDR team championship in chess in 1969 , Buna Halle won the title of GDR team champion again after five years .

A round-robin tournament was played , with each team fighting each other eight team fights on eight boards, the so-called Scheveningen system . There were a total of 48 team fights, so 384 games. At least one junior (up to 20 years of age) had to play in each team .

Between April 11th and 19th, the last rounds were held centrally in Berlin . After a strong final spurt, the Halle residents were again team champions of the GDR after five years. Burkhard Malich (17 out of 24), Heinz Liebert (16 out of 24) and Lutz Espig (17 out of 24) got the most points for the new champions .
