location

Dabern is located in Niederlausitz , about ten kilometers north of the city of Finsterwalde and 15 kilometers south of Luckau . Surrounding villages are Weißack in the north, belonging to the municipality of Heideblick in the district of Dahme-Spreewald , the Crinitz district of Gahro in the northeast, Großbahren in the east, Goßmar in the southeast, the city of Sonnewalde in the south, Zeckerin in the west and Pahlsdorf in the northwest.

history

Slavic settlers probably settled in the area of Dabern as early as the 6th century. The small village was first mentioned in documents in 1481 under the name Dabern, and in 1501 the place Dobran was mentioned. The place name is of Sorbian origin and means settlement of a man named Dobran , which indicates a former owner. Dabern belonged to the rulership of Sonnewalde in the Electorate of Saxony and was therefore owned by the knight Hans von Minckwitz from 1481 , who had been enfeoffed with the rulership by the Saxon elector. In 1537 the rule with the village was sold to Count Philipp von Solms-Lich , until 1815 Dabern belonged to different lines of the House of Solms.

The topographical-statistical overview of the administrative district of Frankfurt ad O. from 1844 shows 113 inhabitants in 30 residential buildings in Dabern for this year. The place was parish to Goßmar (near Sonnewalde). A windmill belonged to Dabern . In 1867 Dabern had 130 inhabitants.

At the Congress of Vienna in 1815, after the defeat of the Kingdom of Saxony, it was decided to assign territory to the Kingdom of Prussia , which also affected Dabern. Since then, the community has belonged to the newly founded district of Luckau in the administrative district of Frankfurt in the Prussian province of Brandenburg . During the GDR district reform on July 25, 1952, the Luckau district was renamed the Luckau district and greatly reduced in size. Dabern then belonged to the Finsterwalde district in the Cottbus district . On 1 January 1978, the municipalities Dabern and were Pießig after Goßmar incorporated. After the reunification , Dabern was initially in the Finsterwalde district . After the district reform in 1993 , the Goßmar community and its districts were assigned to the Elbe-Elster district and administered there by the Sonnewalde office. On May 1st, 2002 Goßmar was incorporated with Dabern and Pießig to Sonnewalde .

Post mileage

On the main road to Luckau there is a Saxon post mile pillar made of sandstone from 1725, which indicates a distance of four hours from the city of Luckau. The column is a monument of the city of Sonnewalde .
