Daniel Batz (born January 12, 1991 in Erlangen ) is a German soccer goalkeeper . He is under contract with 1. FC Saarbrücken .

Career

He started playing soccer at the age of five with the G-Juniors of SC Adelsdorf and moved to SpVgg Greuther Fürth in 2003 and to 1. FC Nürnberg in 2005 .

On October 17, 2008, he made his debut in the men's division in the second team of 1. FC Nuremberg in the fourth-class Regionalliga Süd in the 3-0 defeat against SSV Ulm 1846 . At this time he was also eligible to play for the A-youth (U-19). In the winter preparation for 2009/10, a metatarsal fracture and a secondary injury slowed the young goalkeeper out. For the 2010/11 season, Batz moved up to the professional squad, but continued to play in the second team.

For the 2011/12 season, Batz moved to SC Freiburg and initially signed a three-year contract until June 30, 2014. Match practice, the number two collected behind Oliver Baumann occasionally with the second team in the Regionalliga. On the last day of the 2011/12 season, he played his only Bundesliga appearance in the 4-0 defeat at the already established champions Borussia Dortmund . In the following two seasons he alternated with the future goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow on the bench of SC Freiburg until Sebastian Mielitz was number two in the 2014/15 season . For the second team he completed 35 regional league games in the four years at SC Freiburg.

For the 2015/2016 season , Batz moved to the third division Chemnitzer FC . After he only made two appearances with the Saxons, he left the CFC in January 2016 and joined the regional league club SV Elversberg . Batz had a contract in Elversberg until June 30, 2017.

In the summer of 2017, his move to league competitor 1. FC Saarbrücken became known. With the Saarlanders, Batz received a contract valid until June 30, 2019. In February 2019, the club announced an extension of the contract until the end of the 2020/21 season. On March 3, 2020, Batz ensured the club reached the semi-finals in the DFB Cup by saving a penalty in regular time and then four out of ten penalty kicks in the quarter-finals against Fortuna Düsseldorf . He broke the DFB Cup record of four saved penalties in a game set up by Uwe Kamps against Bayer Leverkusen in 1992 .
