The Deutsche Einheit Fernstraßenplanungs- und -bau GmbH ( DEGES ) is a project management company founded on October 7, 1991 . It was supposed to implement the planning and construction of the German Unity Transport Projects (VDE) faster than would have been possible with the new federal states' road construction administrations . With the implementation of VDE feeders as well as other federal trunk and state road projects, additional tasks were transferred to the company from the end of the 1990s.

When DEGES was founded, the federal government and Rhein-Main-Donau AG each with 25% shares, as well as the federal states of Brandenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia with 10% . In 1995 Rhein-Main-Donau AG sold its participation. The new shareholders were Hamburg on August 30, 2007 , Schleswig-Holstein on July 4, 2008 , Bremen on December 11, 2009 , Hesse on July 9, 2010 and Baden-Württemberg , Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia in 2014 . Since then, the federal government has held a share of 29.08% and the twelve federal states each have a 5.91% share in the company.

In the federal states involved, the company is responsible for the construction and expansion of 2,452 km of federal trunk roads with a total investment volume of around € 30.2 billion. In addition, there are other road construction projects with a length of approx. 84 km and an investment volume of approx. € 231 million as well as the project implementation of the tunnel shell construction component, including the shell and expansion of the stations of the Leipzig City Tunnel with an investment volume of approx. € 665 million.

The head office of DEGES is located in the Berlin Mossehaus . There are branches in Hamburg, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Stuttgart and Bautzen.

According to the annual report, DEGES had 374 employees at the end of 2018. Technical managing director is Dirk Brandenburger, commercial managing director Bodo Baumbach.

In 2020, DEGES is to merge into the new Autobahn GmbH of the federal government and continue the projects transferred to it as a major projects division.

The company was founded on October 7, 1991. The share capital of the new company in the amount of 100,000 DM was held by the Federal Republic of Germany (25 percent), Rhein-Main-Donau AG (25 percent) and the five new federal states with a combined 50 percent. The Supervisory Board was made up of representatives from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Finance, Rhein-Main-Donau AG and the new federal states.

  • B 101n - new four-lane building between Ludwigsfelde and Luckenwalde (under traffic since 2018)

  • City-Tunnel Leipzig - new construction between Bayerischer Bahnhof and Hauptbahnhof (completed in December 2013)
  • A 281 - New construction of a north-western corner connection between A 1 and A 27 in the Bremen city ​​area (partly under traffic / under construction / in planning)
