Heinz-Dieter Brüggemann (born November 15, 1953 in Hemer ) is a former German ice hockey player who played 15 seasons for EC Deilinghofen / ECD Iserlohn / ECD Sauerland. He is the record player of the ECD with 588 games and is only surpassed in Sauerland ice hockey by Collin Danielsmeier with 684 games. Brüggemann scored 294 goals and led his team to promotion to the Bundesliga in 1977 . After his playing career, he was active as a youth coach in Iserlohn for over ten years.

Due to his achievements and services to ice hockey in Hemer and Iserlohn , an award was given by the Iserlohn Roosters on September 12, 2014 . Brüggemann's shirt number 21 and shirt number 5 of long-time ECD player and founding member Jörg Schauhoff were blocked and jersey banners were pulled under the roof of the Iserlohn ice rink in their honor . This ceremony was the first in the history of the EC Deilinghofen and the Iserlohn Roosters.

family

Dieter Brüggemann's son is the former ice hockey player Lars Brüggemann , who also began playing ice hockey in the ECD's junior division. Lars Brüggemann also played for the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League and was captain during this time . Since the end of his playing career, Lars Brüggemann has been active as a professional referee in the DEL and international tournaments.

Career

Brüggemann learned to play ice hockey in the junior division of EC Deilinghofen . From 1971 he was part of the senior team of the ECD and quickly established himself as an important player on the offensive. In the 1976/77 season he was instrumental in the ECD's first ascent to the Bundesliga . In the 1979/80 season Brüggemann was the top scorer of his team, but could not prevent relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga. The next year he was again the top scorer with 52 goals and top scorer of the ECD for the first time with 81 points. During the 1984/85 season Brüggemann moved from the now first-class ECD to Duisburger SC in the 2nd Bundesliga. Further stations were the ESV Schalker Haie , ESC Ahaus and ERC Westphalia Dortmund . For the 1989/90 season Brüggemann returned to Iserlohn for a year. He then played for ESC Ahaus, EHC Unna and ERC Westphalia Dortmund.

After finishing his career as a player, Brüggemann was coach of ASV Hamm for one year in the second division 1. Liga Nord for the 1994/95 season . For the 1996/97 season he took over the club, which had meanwhile been relegated, and managed to gain direct promotion. After the 1997/98 season , ASV Hamm was dissolved due to bankruptcy. Then Brüggemann was in the traditional team of the ECD and for over ten years as a trainer in the junior division of the Iserlohn Roosters. In May 2016, Soester EG announced that Brüggemann will be the head coach of the SEG in the coming Regionalliga season.
